Since 2011, the school has helped thousands of students develop practical language skills, explore other cultures, and communicate more confidently in an increasingly connected world. Through engaging instruction and a welcoming, multicultural learning environment, the school strives to make language education accessible and enjoyable while promoting greater cultural awareness, understanding, and appreciation.
Meet the Founder
Alicia Dusseault founded San Jose Learning Center in 2011. She graduated cum laude from the University of San Francisco with a bachelor’s degree in international business and later earned an MBA from San José State University. She also holds a TESOL/TESL/TEFL certification and currently serves as SJLC’s CEO and as a guest business lecturer at SJSU, where she shares her entrepreneurial experience with aspiring business leaders.
As the daughter of Japanese and German immigrants, Alicia developed an early appreciation for different languages, cultures, and traditions. She has studied five foreign languages and traveled to more than 40 countries, experiences that have strengthened her belief that language learning can bring people together. She continues to study languages and explore new countries whenever possible.
Alicia created SJLC to provide a welcoming and inclusive environment where students can develop practical communication skills while gaining a deeper understanding of other cultures. Today, the school offers group classes, private lessons, and corporate programs in 18 languages, taught by instructors from around the world.
